The amount of Ethereum (ETH) staked has increased since Ethereum implemented the Shapella upgrade on April 12, 2023.
Data tracked by Glassnode shows that over 4.4 million ETH has been staked since April 12, bringing the total number of Ethereum (ETH) staked to 22.58 million ETH.
Analysts at Bitfinex said in a weekly report: “The increase in staking demand can be traced to large ETH holders who are reluctant to sell their ETH and seek to generate income. passive.”
This trend is expected to persist, especially considering that ETH deflation is expected to push the ETH price up significantly, the analysts added.
According to data from wenmerge.com , Ethereum holders who want to become validators on the network will have to wait for 36 days. Currently, more than 50000 validators are lined up to stake ETH.
ETH staking started gaining attention after Ethereum’s Beacon Chain launched in December 2020. However, for almost 3 years, participants who staked ETH were unable to withdraw their staked ETH. The recent Shapella upgrade has begun allowing users to unlock their staked ETH.
