The zkSync Era network, a layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, experienced a major outage today, stopping block production for over an hour.
According to some information, the network outage was caused by an increase in subscription transactions.
Inscription is a type of non-fungible token (NFT) that has become popular in the cryptocurrency community in recent months.
However, they also pose a cybersecurity risk because they can exploit vulnerabilities in Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Knots, exceed data carry limits, and spam the network with large amounts of non-transactional data.
This could lead to increased network congestion, higher fees, and reduced performance for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency networks with Inscriptions like zkSync Era.
The zkSync Era team has yet to issue an official statement on the incident, but some users claim that the network was unable to process these transactions due to Inscription’s size and complexity.
